As your Amazon FBA wholesale, container import, or high-volume arbitrage business expands, shipping via small parcel delivery (SPD) becomes expensive and inefficient. Transitioning to Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Pallet Freight cuts your shipping costs by up to 60%, but requires strict adherence to Amazon pallet specifications.
Amazon UK Pallet Specifications: Standard vs Euro
Amazon UK accepts two standard pallet types:
- UK Standard Pallets (GMA standard): 1000 mm x 1200 mm 4-way wooden pallets in good structural condition. (Preferred by most UK FCs like LBA4 and BHX4).
- Euro Pallets: 800 mm x 1200 mm wooden pallets (commonly used for continental European imports).
Note: Broken pallets, plastic pallets without pre-approval, and pallets with loose boards will be rejected at the Amazon gate.
Key Stacking and Height Guidelines
- Height Limits: Standard pallet shipments cannot exceed 1.8 meters (including the 15cm pallet base). Over-height pallets cannot clear automated warehouse racking.
- Zero Overhang: Cartons must be stacked neatly within the perimeter of the wooden pallet. Any box overhanging the edge is at risk of crushing and immediate FC rejection.
- Weight Limits: Total pallet weight must not exceed 500kg for standard pallets unless containing a single oversized product.
Stretch Wrapping and 4-Sided Labeling
Amazon requires industrial clear stretch film wrapped tightly around all four sides, with at least 3 layers securing the bottom tier of boxes directly to the wooden base so the load cannot slide during transit.
Finally, you must apply four Amazon FBA Pallet Identification labels—one on the center of each of the four sides of the stretch wrap.
